Paula niño
Ciento cincuenta y ocho mil o más plumasFeathers, Fan
2013, remake 2024
The heavy air of anticipation, a longing for something to break the stillness, an event, a resolution, but whether it arrives remains unknown. The fan sits beside a pile of feathers; it blows, the movement is slight, but they don’t really fly despite their light weight and softness. The structure is still there, along with the sense of expectancy, awaiting any hint of movement. In the end, if the feathers take flight, it's perfectly fine too.
About A significant aspect of Paula's artistic practice revolves around the re-figuration and re-contextualization of found and everyday objects, which serve as the fundamental raw materials for her artwork. By placing these objects in unexpected locations or by changing their appearance, she inadvertently alters their 'normal' context and adds to the overall sense of absurdity. Through her work, manifested in sculptures, Collages, 2D and sound pieces, Paula transforms these objects into commemorating artifacts that have seemingly lost their recognizable identity.By her installations she also reframes spaces through everyday materials that recreate new inhabitable landscapes.
